Bwala officially dumps PDP, says party lacks values

Daniel Bwala, who serves as Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Policy Communications, has decided to step down from his membership in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He explained that his decision was driven by concerns over what he sees as the party’s waning commitment to strong leadership and transparency.

In a heartfelt letter dated July 10, 2025, and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Garkida Ward, Gombi Local Government Area, Adamawa State, Bwala shared his feelings. He expressed sadness about the party’s perceived move away from its original principles, calling the development truly regrettable.

He mentioned that he can no longer stay a member of the PDP because it no longer embodies the values that initially attracted him. He also made it clear that his resignation is effective immediately.

“I hereby formally resign my membership from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” he wrote in the letter.

“This decision stems from my deep concern over the Party's declining commitment to purposeful and visionary leadership, which has significantly deviated from the principles that initially attracted me to the PDP.”

“A political party should be a vehicle for progressive governance, accountability and the collective aspirations of the people,” he said.

“Regrettably, the current leadership has failed to uphold these values, resulting in a lack of direction, internal discord, and weakening of public trust. I can no longer, in good conscience, remain part of an organisation that no longer reflects the ideals of service, integrity and democratic progress.

“I appreciate the opportunities I have had in the party and the relationships I have built. Thank you,” he added.
