'Burna Boy still a new artist' - Slimcase

Nigerian artist Oluwafemi Oladapo, better known by his stage name Slimcase claims that his colleague Damini Ogulu known as Burna Boy constantly sounds fresh to him despite being in the industry for more than a decade.

The "Shaku Shaku" singer made this assertion during a recent interview with Cool FM in Lagos, which was anchored by reality star, Tacha.

He said: "Burna Boy is number one among the top five artists I am feeling right now," stated Slimcase. He's still a developing artist. Every day, he surprises me in some manner.

In 2023, Davido sparked conversations on social media after he included Burna Boy with Rema, Asake, Fireboy, and Omah Lay among the "new cats".

During the 2023 interview, Davido stated that he and Wizkid were the pioneers of Afribeats which new cats like Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, Omah Lay, and Fireboy DML among others are riding on now.

His statement sparked an uproar on social media as many disagreed with him for calling Burna Boy a new cat stating that he shouldn't have put Burna Boy and the rest in the same category.
