Nigerian Grammy Award-winning Afrofusion star Burna Boy has confirmed that he has converted to Islam.
Speculation about the singer’s faith first gained attention on social media after Nigerian socialite Rahman Jago shared a video of Burna Boy on 𝕏, where the artiste was heard saying “Alhamdulillah,” an Arabic phrase meaning “Praise be to God.”
The clip quickly went viral, sparking debate among fans about whether his frequent use of Islamic expressions signaled a formal conversion.
Many followers pointed out that Burna Boy has used Arabic phrases in his songs and public appearances in the past, further fueling speculation that he may have embraced Islam privately.
As conversations intensified online, former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad responded to questions about the development.
He noted that some individuals close to the singer had claimed he converted, but added that there had been no direct confirmation from Burna Boy at the time.
Rahman Jago later made a firm statement on social media, declaring that the artiste had indeed converted and is now a Muslim.
Burna Boy subsequently confirmed the news himself during a livestream hosted by Plaueboymax, where he also shared his perspective on creation.
The announcement has generated mixed reactions online, with some fans congratulating the artiste on his spiritual journey, while others continue to discuss his views and the broader implications of the development.
