Pastor Tunde Bakare has opened up about his interactions with the late former President Muhammadu Buhari following the leader’s passing.

During an interview with TVC News, Bakare was asked about his past criticisms of the Buhari-led administration and whether he had the chance to express those concerns privately to the former president.

Although he declined to disclose the specifics of their conversations, Pastor Bakare confirmed that he had met with Buhari numerous times behind closed doors.

He recalled being particularly outraged over the raid on the residence of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho. Bakare revealed that he confronted President Buhari about the incident, only for the president to deny any prior knowledge of the operation.

In his reflections, Pastor Bakare emphasized that Buhari was not an economist and cautioned against placing sole responsibility for Nigeria’s economic struggles on one individual.

His words in part: “General Buhari was not an economist. He had people that were in charge of that. Some of the economic decisions made back then we’re still seeing the effect in our nation today. But it will be wrong to put everything on the head of one man. Jonathan was accused of mismanagement, corruption, this and that…”
