'Buhari was a tormentor, history will never judge him well' - Early comparison of Tinubu and his predecessor

Former President Muhammadu Buhari Former President Muhammadu Buhari

Almost a month since President Bola Tinubu assumed office and he has managed to captivate the minds of some Nigerians with his actions.

Upon taking office as President, Tinubu removed fuel subsidy, suspended some appointees in Buhari's administration, hinted on plans to move the economy forward and stabilise the naira. Also provide a safety net for foreign investors.

Although some believe all his actions will stop as it is a common pattern among his predecessors.

A post shared on Twitter by Senator Shehu Sani has sparked mixed reactions from netizens. In his tweet, he slammed former President Muhammadu Buhari for his lack of vision.

Praising Tinubu for his recent moves, he noted that wherever former President Buhari is, he will see how power can be effectively used to reawaken and reinforce the spirit of a nation.

According to Sani, Buhari described his predecessor as corrupt while he "harboured the most larcenous federal cabinet in the history of the country".

A social media user named Lucas described Buhari as a tormentor who upgraded corruption. The user said the former president took Nigeria 20 years backward and that history will never judge him well.

Below are some tweets;

Senator Shehu Sani: "Wherever he is, the former President is watching how power can be effectively used to reawaken and reinforce the spirit of a nation. A contrast to his boring era that was characterised by deficiency of vision, subservience to a parasitic cabal and notorious for its emptiness. He called all the previous Governments kwarapt while he cultivated, incubated and harboured the most larcenous and opaque Federal Cabinet in Nigeria’s history".

Lucas: Buhari was a tormentor of the people and of the economy. He has gone and gone good.. Unfortunately, he is on the wrong side of history. He upgraded corruption to the next level.. His administration took Nigeria 20 yrs backwards as a nation. History will never judge him well.

Ahmed: This initial Gra Gra will amount to nothing if this administration does not drastically address and cut down the cost of Governance in Nigeria. This is the only way those you’re straining their little ease of survival would see that you’re with them in making such sacrifices!.

To earn the peoples trust, the Government officials must convincingly Join them in making sacrifices so it doesn’t look like a deliberate exploitation.

Ahmed Kayode: The former President set the standard so low that with just 3 weeks in office, Nigerians could hypothesize that the country is back on track.

Nigerians showing perseverance despite the hard economic situation is a testament to this.

Stanley Chuck: These appointments mean nothing, honorable. What we care about is the cost of living! We still spend the same amount to live as Nigerians, and even more right now on transportation fare. Until I begin to spend less on materials for my business, the praise singing will hold.

@kay_kingsmen12: Too early to criticize Buhari, take a chill peel for a minute. Tinubu is doing exactly what his predecessor is doing. Appointment by Partnership (appointing people that worked for him during election)

Okoro Emmanuel: The speedy commendation of the present government irks me. I can vividly remember when Buhari newly entered office in 2015, how NEPA was giving light right, left and center and people were commending him. They even unearthed the word "Body Language" & attributed it to Buhari.
