Pastor Tunde Bakare of Citadel Global Community Church has said former President Muhammadu Buhari told him he knew nothing about the security raid on the house of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho.
It is worth recalling that Igboho's house in Oyo State was raided in 2021 by security agents who caused damage while he was absent.
Igboho recalled the incident a few days ago while reacting to Buhari's death at the age of 82, which happened in a London hospital.
He said, “I thank God for my life today, see life! The man who sent DSS to come and kill me in the middle of the night on July 4th 2021, has died today.
“My people, we are supposed to learn from this. That man, Muhammadu Buhari, is dead, but I’m alive today. I thank God for my life.
“The man that ganged up with some stupid Yoruba people came to my house to take my life, but God said no”.
During an interview with TVC News, Bakare said he confronted Buhari about the situation at the time and got a shocking response.
The clergyman said, "Truth be told, I had the opportunity to speak to him privately many times, and I will not go public against anyone who I had close relationship with. Normally, I will first present it behind the scene. One of the few occasions that I spoke loud outside of private discussion was what happened in Sunday Igboho's house. I was really livid and remembered saying, 'you'll never see me again.' And then he sent for me and said, 'do you know I know nothing about it'."
