Buhari's remains arrive in Katsina for burial

The remains of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari arrived at Umar Musa Yar’adua Airport in Katsina State on Tuesday, met by a sombre delegation led by President Bola Tinubu.

The presidential aircraft carrying the late leader’s remains touched down as governors, ministers, members of the National Assembly, and other top officials gathered to pay their respects.

President Tinubu, arriving at the airport around 1:48 p.m. local time, is set to attend the state burial for Buhari, a towering figure in Nigerian politics.

The ceremony marks a moment of national mourning for the former president, who led the country from 2015 to 2023.

He died on Sunday at a London hospital at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness.
