Buhari's aide reveals why Tinubu won't attend APC NEC meeting

Bashir Ahmad, an aide to The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has revealed why Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was not invited to the National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC, which holds today.

Recall that President Buhari had agreed to be present at the meeting despite the controversy surrounding the position of acting national chairman of the party.

In a statement issued yesterday by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Buhari revealed his stance which backs Victor Giadom.

According to him, Giadom's claim to the position is backed by law.

However, a faction of the party believed to be loyal to Tinubu had named a former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, for the position. This was after a court of appeal upheld the suspension of Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the APC.

With the NEC meeting holding today and without Tinubu on the list of invitees, many have labelled it as a move against him and his 2023 presidential ambition.

This has been clarified by Bashir Ahmad who tweeted: “There are some people who need to know that the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is not a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party, hence, he doesn’t attend the NEC Meetings. This is very clear!”.
