Buhari makes two fresh appointments, names Babajo ED of NAIC

President Buhari has made two fresh appointments for NAIC.

Bashir Babajo was appointed the ED operation of NAIC.

Philip Ashinze was also appointed as the ED finance of NAIC for the second term.

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Bashir Tijjani Babajo as executive director, operations, Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), for the first term of four years.

Leadership reports that the president also renewed the appointment of Philip Ashinze as executive director, finance and administration for a second of the final four years.

Legit.ng gathered that the appointments of the duo took effect from August 1, 2020.

A statement signed by the director of information, federal ministry of agriculture and rural development, Theodore Ogaziechi and made available to the press, said the president’s approval was conveyed to the minister of agriculture and rural development, Muhammad Sabo Nanono, in a letter with reference number, SH/COS/42/3/A/988, signed by the chief of staff to the president, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari.

Congratulating the executive directors on their appointments, the minister called on them to bring their wealth of experience to bear and ensure the continuous implementation of NAIC’s mandate in accordance with extant laws and other subsisting rules and regulations.

The NAIC is wholly owned by the federal government of Nigeria, adding that it was set up to specially provide agricultural risks insurance cover to Nigerian farmers.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the appointment of Col. Milland Dixion Dikio (rtd) as Interim Administrator (Amnesty Program) was approved.

It was reported that President Muhammadu Buhari's approval for the appointment was announced in a statement and shared on Twitter by Garba Shehu, the presidential aide on media and publicity on Thursday, August 27.

In another report, President Buhari approved the composition of the governing council and appointment of executive secretary of the national commission for Persons With Disabilities (PWD).

The president named Hussaini Suleiman Kangiwa (northwest) as the chairman and James David Lalu (northcentral) as the executive secretary.

A statement issued by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, in Abuja on Monday, August 24, said Buhari’s action is in line with the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2019.
