Buhari hails local engineers, contractors as he unveils project

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed a belief that local production will help to empower hardworking Nigerians.

Speaking during the virtual commissioning of Nigerian Content Tower, Buhari also emphasised that local production will provide opportunities for Nigerians.

The president also said he is happy and pleased that this project was delivered by local contractors and supported by local engineers.

President Muhammadu Buhari said he strongly believed that local production and patronage of Nigerian made goods and services will empower citizens and give them viable opportunities to excel.

Buhari expressed this conviction on Thursday, August 13, during the virtual commissioning of the Nigerian Content Tower, a project of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), in Bayelsa.

The president promised to give necessary support to NCDMB and congratulated it upon its 10 year anniversary.

"I believe strongly in the local production and patronage of our goods and services as one of the surest ways to empower our citizens and give them viable opportunities to excel in the choices professions in business endeavours.

"The commissioning of this project; I want to highlight that we put in place a landmark of reference in the Niger Delta to reflect long lasting legacies that signpost the year of oil and gas exploitation," President Buhari said.

The president also said he is happy and pleased that this project was delivered by local contractors, supported by local engineers and project consultants, saying "we must all be proud that we finished what we started."

Also speaking at the event, the group managing director of NNPC Mallam Mele Kyari, said the commission is happy with the project and will support NCDMB in the future.
