Buhari hails Adesina on re-election

President Buhari has once again congratulated the re-elected President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina after the latter paid him a visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement titled “President Buhari receives AfDB President, Akinwunmi Adesina, tells him ‘nothing succeeds like success’.”

President Buhari said that he trusts in the abilities of Dr. Adesina to do more for the continent in his second term.

The presidential spokesman qouted Buhari as saying, “I congratulate you on your second and final term in office. Congratulations on winning the election. Nothing succeeds like success.

“I have told so many people why I backed you.”

After he was re-elected Dr. Akinwumi Adesina promised his unwavering support for the continent’s infrastructure gap reduction by providing quality growth.

During his inaugural address after being sworn-in as AfDB President on Tuesday, September 1, 2020, he pledged to expand partnership and tilt more attention to the continent.

The AfDB President, who was re-elected unanimously by the bank’s board of Governors to serve a second five-year term on August 27, said his administration will focus on the institution, people, delivery, and sustainability.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has changed everything globally; it has thrown Africa’s growth back. The continent has lost gains and economic growth that were achieved over the last decade.
