Abu Sani, a Zamfara resident who was responsible for the kidnap of more than 280 students of the Girls Senior Secondary School in Jangebe in 2021 says insecurity in northern Nigeria has become a business.

He made this known in a recent BBC Africa Eye documentary.

According to him, everyone wants money and, for them, kidnapping is the easiest way to make it.

"Because it has become a business, everyone wants money, that's why things are deteriorating from the top to the bottom. They say when there is insecurity, the government gets the money. Everyone is benefiting, we also get money, although, for our money, blood is split," he said when asked about his thoughts about insecurity in Northern Nigeria.

Zamfara has become a hotbed for bandits as millions of Nigerians are being displaced daily as a result of constant attacks by bandits.
