Breaking: Tinubu sacks 2 other Buhari appointees, gives reason

President Bola Tinubu has dismissed two appointees of the immediate past President Muhammadu Buhari.

The affected appointees, according to The TVC, are Babatunde Irukera, the CEO of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and Alexander Ayoola Okoh, the Director-General/CEO of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE).

According to a statement from the presidency, the sacked CEOs were directed to hand over to the next senior officers in the agency as their dismissal was with immediate effect.

The next senior officers handed over to the agency will have to be in charge pending the appointments of other chief executive officers.

The statement, which was signed by Ajuri Ngelale, the spokesperson to the president, reads in part: "In conformity with plans to restructure and reposition critical agencies of the Federal Government towards protecting the rights of Nigerian consumers and providing a strong basis for enhanced contributions to the nation’s economy by key growth-enabling institutions."
