Booing leaders is a form of protest- Shehu Sani

Sani Sani

A former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district, Shehu Sani has reacted to the report of Borno residents booing President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari during his sympathy visit to the state.

This was following an attack by Boko Haram terrorists, which left at least 30 persons dead two days ago.

Sani, who reacted to the incident on Twitter categorised the booing of the President as a mild way of protesting or showing disenchantment. He said the act was neither violent nor extreme.

"To Boo leaders is a mild, peaceful and legitimate form of protest or disenchantment; And throwing objects like stones is an extreme reaction born out of bottled anger, desperation or hopelessness; leaders must ensure that the former doesn’t lead to the later, as it most often does," he tweeted.

Last Tuesday, 30 people, including a pregnant woman and a baby, were found dead after suspected Boko Haram militants set fire on sleeping travelers in Borno state, Nigeria.

The attacks happened in Auno village, about 20 kilometers from the capital Maiduguri at around 10 pm Sunday night, mynigeria.com gathered.
