A General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 7 Division, General Abdulmalik Biu, has said that Boko Haram terrorists can one day become president of Nigeria.

In a press briefing, Gen Biu urged the terrorists to lay down their arms unconditionally and get rehabilitated.

He noted that the insurgents stand a chance of getting political positions should they drop their arms and surrender.

Gen Biu said; “Boko Haram should lay their arms unconditionally and be accepted in the community. Opportunities are out there for them. They can be rehabilitated. An ex-Boko Haram stands having ladies if he turns away from his negativity. He stands to be a president of this country. He stands to aspire to any position in the country. Why is he wasting his time when he cannot even deliver but we have appealed to them including their collaborators to see reason as fast as possible, drop their arms so that we can once again reoccupy our peaceful position in Nigeria.”

Reacting to the video of the General, Nigerians displeased by the General’s plea, questioned why they are shown mercy despite all their atrocities to fellow Nigerians.

Somto Okonkwo wrote; “if you’re a criminal, kidnapper, a bandit, killer Fulani herdsmen, terrorist as long as you’re from the north, all your sins and atrocities are forgiven. Today, you have sponsors of Boko Haram in government. Some are ministers and governors.

That’s why armed terrorists and bandits from the north are pampered, granted amnesty, sent abroad for foreign education, recruited into the Nigerian armed forces, rehabilitated and empowered. But take a look at the #bloodbath ongoing in delta state. Innocent civilians are killed and communities burnt down by the military. Once it comes to the south east (SS and SE) the rules of engagement are different. One Nigeria indeed!!!"

One Engr. Mallam Nasiru wrote; Sentiments everywhere. This was clearly an attempt to convince them to surrender. Who in his mind will vote for a repented BH?

Aren't Tompolo and Asari repentant militants? When IPOB genuinely repent, they too shall be embraced. We all want a functioning unified country.

@Marvinex11: If we are serious, all public servants in Nigeria should pass through security checks before taking the job.
