The Federal Government of Nigeria has said Boko Haram insurgents are getting weaker by the day.

This is coming shortly after the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed revealed that the actions of the Nigerian military against Boko Haram and ISWAP has forced the terrorists to target Christians with a view to sowing the seed of confusion between the two great religions.

Appealing to religious leaders, the Federal Government told Christians and Muslims not to fall for the desperate divisive moves by the insurgents to divide the people of Nigeria.

"We want to appeal to all our religious leaders, both Christians and Muslims, not to fall for the desperate divisive moves by the insurgents; not to allow them to divide us as a people and weaken our resolve to deal the insurgents the mortal blow," it said.

It also asked for more support to the military, which has also upped the ante against the insurgents as it noted that the resort to the increasing use of guerilla tactics by the insurgents is a sign of weakness on their part.

In conclusion, the Federal Government added that the insurgents were getting weaker by the day.

"Contrary to the belief in certain quarters, these insurgents are getting weaker by the day, thanks to the gallantry of our men and women in uniform," it stated.
