Terrorist group, Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the killings of more than 40 rice farmers in the Zabarmari community in Jere local government area of Borno over the weekend.

According to the leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau, at least 78 farmers were killed in the bloody incident.

Many have described the blood bath as one of the deadliest since the fight against the militant group began in 2009.

The video which was released stated that the village was a target because the farmers in the community handed over a member of the sect to the Nigerian army.

Shekau further warned that those giving out intelligence on Boko Haram activities to the military will face the same fate, reports Information Nigeria.
