Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has mourned the lives lost in the Boko Haram attack on Garkida, a town in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Expressing his condolences to the affected, he noted that the country's insecurity woes were getting out of hand.

Nonetheless, he prayed for their protection in his home town as he mourned the lives lost during that encounter.

"The attack by Boko Haram against lives & properties of innocent Nigerians is unbecoming. My prayers are with the people of Garkida in my home state of Adamawa over the cowardly attack that happened over the weekend. May God give the affected families fortitude to bear the loss," the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential candidate said.

Recall that MyNigeria.com reported that the Nigerian Army engaged in a fierce gun battle with members of the Boko Haram sect, who invaded Garkida, a town in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Many persons, according to reports, were feared killed by the invaders who announced their entry into the town by shooting indiscriminately.
