A political activist IG Wala has said that if US military intervention against terrorists in Nigeria targets innocent villagers, the blame should be laid at the doorstep of the government and those who invited US President Donald Trump.
MyNigeria reported that last week, Trump announced plans to defeat terrorism in Nigeria because it targets Christians. According to him, the US will come to Nigeria "guns-a-blazing" to get the job done. This was after many years of cries from Christians, especially in the Middle Belt and northern Nigeria, about persecution from Muslims.
Reacting, IG Wala said on Facebook, "We pray against carpet bombing or unguided bombing that will affect innocent villagers and their communities across Northern Nigeria. If, if and if innocent people and communities are targeted, blood will be on the hands of the government and those who invited Trump."
In another post, he said, "They are winning the war against the Nigerian state. Whoever hated us this badly and never liked our unity and togetherness as Muslims and Christians has succeeded in dividing us in faith and fate. One community was attacked, many victims, but one petition and one-sided sympathy.
"They met us together as a community of Muslims and Christians, now dividing us not only in religion and region, but in poverty and sickness. Terrorism and banditry are their weapon against our collective existence. All thanks to bad and corrupt leaders for their failure and lack of capacity, yet clinging to power for ages. Let them do their worst, my grave is my country and my country is my grave."
