Blame rising crime on EndSARS protests - Delta CP

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ari Mohammed Ali has blamed the EndSARS protests last year for the high crime rate in the country.

According to him, the protest led to the looting of arms and ammunition by hoodlums, adding that these arms are now been used by hoodlums to perpetrate crime, thereby worsening the security situation in Nigeria.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday in Asaba, he noted that the protest which began on a peaceful note was later hijacked by hoodlums, which led to the attack on security operatives and police.

Mohammed Ali hinted that many police officers were killed in the process and their weapons stolen. All these he said caused the officers to withdraw their presence from the public for fear of being attacked.
