Bill allowing Independent Candidates contest elections passes second reading

House of Reps. House of Reps.

A bill allowing Independent Candidates to contest any elective office in Nigeria has passed second reading.

This is part of the seven bills that passed second reading in the green chamber.

An extra four bills were also presented to the House for first reading on Tuesday.

In commemoration of International Nurses Day, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila said, "I think we should give a standing ovation to our nurses, who have been been in the frontline fighting COVID-19.”

The House rose in a standing ovation for them.



Following a motion for adjournment moved by the leader of the House, Rep. Alhassan Ado-Doguwa and seconded by the Minority Leader of the House, Rep. Ndudi Elumelu, the House adjourned plenary till Tuesday, May 19th, 2020 by 11:00 A.M.
