Beninese mock Tinubu as photos of him sleeping at 63rd independence anniversary trends

Residents of Benin Republic has taken to social media to mock President Bola Tinubu over photos of him sleeping during the county's independence day celebration that took place in Cotonou.

Recall that Tinubu jetted out of the country on Tuesday, August 1, to honour an invitation to attend Benin's 63rd independence anniversary.

Upon his arrival, President Tinubu who was seated alongside the President Patrice Talon of Benin and other distinguished personalities, was captured on camera sleeping during the event.

Photos of Tinubu sleeping has been circulating on various social media platforms with residents mocking him over the incident.

Some of the words the Beninese used to described President Bola Tinubu includes; "Je savais qu'il allait dormi". which means: I knew he would sleep.

"President miton c'est une Zangbeto". President miton is a night watch man.

Other names he was called are; "Président endormi du Nigeria" meaning “The Sleeping President of Nigeria”.

The incident that took place in Benin Republic may not come as a surprised to many Nigerians as prior to his election as President, Tinubu was spotted on multiple occasion sleeping.

While many attributed it to old age, some claim he was suffering from an illness.
