Behaviour of players at 2025 AFCON final unacceptable - CAF

The Confédération Africaine de Football (“CAF”) has condemned the unacceptable behaviour of some players and officials during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final between Morocco and Senegal in Rabat last night.

CAF also condemned any inappropriate behaviour which occurred during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organisers.

"CAF is reviewing all footage and will refer the matter to competent bodies for appropriate action to be taken against those found guilty," it said in a statement on Monday.

In other news, Morocco’s attacking star Brahim Díaz has been crowned the Puma Golden Boot winner of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, following a sensational scoring campaign that placed him at the summit of African football.

Playing in front of passionate home support, the Atlas Lions forward finished the tournament as the leading scorer, adding to the distinction of having already emerged as top scorer in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers, a rare double that underlined his consistency and importance to the national team.

Díaz ended the final tournament with five goals.

Despite the defeat, no other player matched his goal return, ensuring the Puma Golden Boot belonged to the Moroccan talisman.

Díaz’s AFCON 2025 journey was marked by remarkable consistency, as he delivered goals at every crucial stage of Morocco’s campaign. The Real Madrid forward scored Morocco’s opener in a 2-0 win against Comoros, followed by a goal in a 1-1 draw with Mali.

He then scored a brace against Zambia to secure a commanding group stage victory, before continuing his scoring form in the knockout rounds with goals against Tanzania in the Round of 16 and Cameroon in the quarterfinals.

By scoring in five different matches, Díaz joined an elite list of players in AFCON history who have found the net in multiple consecutive games in a single tournament.

With his Puma Golden Boot triumph, Díaz has firmly entered the history books of Moroccan football. He becomes one of the most prolific Moroccan players ever in a single AFCON edition and set a new benchmark for consistency by scoring in multiple consecutive matches at the finals.
