Defending German champions, Bayern Munich, have regained their Bundesliga and at the same time secured their eighth successive Bundesliga title.

Robert Lewandowski's 31st league goal of the season sealed the title for Bayer as they beat relegation-threatened Werder Bremen 1-0 at the Weser Stadium.

Bayern were reduced to 10 men in the closing stages as Alphonso Davies was sent off for a second bookable offence (79) but the visitors held on to clinch yet another title. Bremen remain 17th, level on points with Dusseldorf who currently occupy the relegation play-off spot but now with a game in hand over their rivals.

Bayern Munich head coach Hansi Flick dug into the big book of football cliches when discussing his team's ambitions ahead of Tuesday's clash with Werder Bremen.

"We want to finish the job on Tuesday. That is our goal. We have an excellent run and want to continue our winning streak," Flick told reporters. "The target is to win again in Bremen. We want to just seal the deal."
