Bandits kill Zamfara APC governorship aspirant

Sagir Hamida, a governorship aspirant of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Zamfara State is dead.

He was reported to have been killed by suspected bandits at Rijana, along Kaduna-Abuja highway late Sunday, November 21, 2021.

The news of his demise was made known to Premium Times by Imran Ahmad-Rufai, a political associate to the deceased and media aide to Dauda Lawan, another governorship aspirant.

Prior to his death, Mr. Hamida was a retired director at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the ‘Sarkin Rafin Gusau’ a traditional title he was known with.

He was the governorship aspirant for the state under the People Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015 and under the APC in 2019.

He was part of the G8 group that challenged former governor Abdul’aziz Yari in court over the alleged imposition of candidates in the APC, according to Premium Times.

Mr Ahmad-Rufai said the remains of Mr Hamida has been deposited at his residence in Abuja and funeral prayers will be announced soon.
