Auwalu Gumel, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Jigawa State, says the immediate past Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, did all he could to stamp out insecurity in the country.

Gumel made the known in a statement on Wednesday, December 4, after Badaru was replaced as Defence Minister by former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa.

According to Gumel, Badaru showed commitment to the role despite his shortcomings.

“H.E. Badaru Abubakar, no doubt, despite his civilian background, did tremendously well in areas of security. The passion that he put into the job and his understanding of the dynamics of social strife prepared him for the task.

“Some elements, especially sponsored faceless groups for political reasons, were throwing jabs at H.E. Badaru.”

“The former minister remains committed to Nigeria’s security and safety, fully supportive of Tinubu’s success,” Gumel stated.
