Bad governance worsening Nigeria’s insecurity - Jega

The former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, has said that the insecurity problems ravaging the country are caused by bad leadership.

He said this during his speech at the Pre-Inaugural Lecture organised in honour of Umaru Bago Mohammed, the governor-elect of Niger State.

According to him, the worsening national security challenges in Nigeria are caused by poor management of complex diversity and poor governance complicated by heightened mobilisation of ethno-religious identities, especially during political and electoral contests.

Jega slammed the Buhari administration following the significant rise in deaths and abduction.

He urged the incoming governments to ensure this menace is reduced drastically.
