BREAKING: Nigeria issues travel ban on 13 countries due to coronavirus

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a travel ban on 13 countries in other to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Nigeria announced its third case on Tuesday after a 30-year-old Nigerian lady flew in from the United Kingdom on March 13. She was tested positive for COVID-19 afterwards.

As of Wednesday morning, the Uk has over 1,900 coronavirus cases with at least, 71 deaths.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control - NCDC, travellers from countries who have at least, 1,000 coronavirus cases domestically, will no longer be allowed into the country.

"All travellers returning from these countries prior to the restriction will be in supervised self-isolation, monitored by NCDC and Port Health Services.

"The Federal Government of Nigeria has also suspended the issuance of visa on arrival to travellers from these countries with > 1,000 cases domestically.

The countries include "China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, Japan, France, Germany, United States of America, Norway, United Kingdom, Netherlands and Switzerland," NCDC.

A global record shows that there are 200,106 confirmed cases with more than 8,000 death recorded as of March 18, according to Worldometer.
