BREAKING: Governor Obaseki of Edo State joins PDP

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has joined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, days after he announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This was disclosed on the official Twitter handle of the PDP.

“Breaking News! The governor of Edo State, H.E. @GovernorObaseki has defected to our great party, the @OfficialPDPNig. The declaration was made this afternoon at the state secretariat of our party in Benin City, Edo State. Power to the people. #EdoIsPDP,” the tweet read.

The governor also announced via a tweet saying, "I have officially joined the @OfficialPDPNig to advance my ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State.

"I, as always, remain committed to engendering good governance and sustainable development of our dear state".

The announcement was welcomed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State who tweeted:

"I welcome my brother, Governor Godwin Obaseki, to our great party, the People’s Democratic Party! As you join us on this platform, we shall work to ensure that you continue the great work that you have started for the people of Edo State".
