BREAKING: Former Chief Justice of Kano Shehu Atiku dies

Justice Shehu Atiku, the former Kano State Chief Judge has been confirmed dead.

His death was confirmed by the spokesperson for the Kano juidiciary.

The spokesman said in a statement he issued late Sunday night that the Chief Judge died following a brief illness, Daily Post reports.

The late Justice Atiku is expected to be buried on Monday morning around 11am at his residence.

Late Atiku was famously known for his role in the failed banks tribunal in which he was uncompromising despite various attempts to bribe him, according to Daily Post.

He was also said to have refused to bow to threats on his life as he diligently adjudicated on cases brought before the tribunal over which he presided.

He retired from the bench in 2015 as the Chief Judge of Kano State.

The late chief Judge was known as a humble and easy-going person whose humility was very disarming. He was liked for his simplicity and sociable attributes.
