BREAKING: Appeal Court sacks Speaker of House of Assembly

The Court of Appeal (CoA), Abuja, on Tuesday, November 28, sacked the Nasarawa state house of assembly speaker, Ibrahim Balarabe.

The appellate court proceeded to declare Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad of the People Democratic Party (PDP) as the authentic winner of the March 18 election in the state, Daily Trust reported.

Appeal Court sacks Speaker

Ibrahim Balarabe Sacked Balarabe is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the court, PDP's Sa’ad is the rightful winner of the March election for Umaisha/Ugya state constituency.

A report by The Punch also noted this development.

Appeal Court gives verdict on Sule's election

In a piece of related news, Legit.ng reported that the Court of Appeal in Abuja affirmed the election of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state.

The appellate court set aside the judgement of the tribunal which sacked the Nasarawa governor.

2 Speakers emerge in Nasarawa

Legit.ng also reported that Governor Sule shed light on the crisis that rocked the state house of assembly where two speakers emerged.

The new speakers are Ibrahim Balarabe-Abdullahi, who was the former speaker, and Daniel Ogah Ogazi, a lawmaker from the Kokona East constituency.

The governor said his effort to broker peace was aborted as they stood their ground.

Police seal off Nasarawa Assembly In another related news, Legit.ng reported that the police in Nasarawa sealed off the House of Assembly complex in the state.

The police said they decided to take that step to avert a breakdown of law and order.

Speaking on why police had to seal off the assembly complex, Ramhan Nansel, the state police public relations officer, said the action was due to a directive by the state commissioner of police, Maiyaki Mohammed-Baba.
