Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Lekan Emir, and some of his associates have reportedly killed a man identified as Kazeem Oyewole, also known as Mosquito, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The incident occurred on Sunday, December 18, 2025, at the Orita Elelede area of the city, triggering fear and tension among residents.
Eyewitnesses alleged that Lekan Emir, who is said to be a serving member of the Osun State Park Management System under the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, was involved in the attack alongside some of his boys.
However, the exact circumstances surrounding Oyewole’s death remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Oyewole, popularly known as Mosquito, a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), was described by residents as a well-known street figure in the area and was reportedly involved in rivalries among local groups, although security agencies have not officially confirmed these claims.
As of press time, the Osun State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the killing or confirm any arrests.
Meanwhile, Lekan Emir has previously been linked to several criminal cases. In 2024, a Federal High Court in Osogbo granted him bail in the sum of ₦50 million after he was arraigned on a 10-count charge bordering on conspiracy, malicious damage, unlawful killing, and acts of terrorism.
Court documents alleged that Emir and others, who were said to be at large, terrorised supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other residents, including the killing of one Muraina Olayiwola at Orita CMS, Osogbo, on February 27, 2022.
Months later, the Osun State Police Command arrested John Olowosaye, who was accused of conspiring with Lekan Emir in the abduction of two persons in Ede in August 2023.
The police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, disclosed that investigations revealed the victims were taken to the Balogun area of Osogbo, where a ransom of ₦2.6 million was allegedly paid into Lekan Emir’s account.
She said Olowosaye was arrested after police investigations linked him to the crime.
“Based on a report of abduction sometime in August 2023, that two people were abducted in Ede town, the Police Anti-cultism Unit have been working round the clock to ensure the suspects involved are arrested,” Opalola said.
“The Police, not resting on their oars, on July 3, 2024, arrested the suspect in connection with the crime. Investigation revealed that he conspired with one Olalekan Dauda Oyeyemi, also known as Emir, to abduct the victims in Ede and brought them to Balogun area in Osogbo, where a ransom of ₦2.6 million was paid into Oyeyemi’s account.”
