BBNaija S11: Again, Yusuf ends romance with Bells

Big Brother Naija Season 11 housemate, Yusuf, has once again drawn the line under his romantic relationship with fellow housemate Bells, saying he no longer wants to be romantically or intimately involved with her.

Yusuf made this known on Tuesday during his diary session with Big Brother, explaining that Bells’ repeated public comments and jokes about their relationship had reinforced his decision to walk away.

According to him, he no longer feels safe having his identity and private moments exposed in public because Bells, in his view, does not always consider the consequences of what she says.

Yusuf said the latest incident occurred during the Arena game when Bells brought up a private joke involving him and Keivo.

He explained that he and Keivo had previously joked about a moment when Keivo interrupted him while he was spending time with Bells. According to Yusuf, he jokingly threatened to kiss Keivo to make him leave, and Keivo eventually walked away.

However, Yusuf said Bells later repeated the joke publicly at the Arena, leaving him uncomfortable.

“I genuinely feel like my identity is not safe with her,” Yusuf told Big Brother, adding that he had previously warned Bells about making such comments in public.

He said although Bells had promised to work on the issue, the latest incident convinced him that little had changed.

Yusuf said he therefore proposed that they reduce their romantic involvement and remain friends.

“I do not want to be intimately or romantically involved with her anymore,” he said.

The decision is particularly significant because it is the second time Yusuf has chosen to end his romantic involvement with Bells.

He recalled that he had made a similar decision earlier in the season because of what he described as Bells’ tendency to make certain comments publicly. At the time, however, he said they were both emotionally attached, making it easier for him to compromise and give the relationship another chance.

But Yusuf said the latest incident had reinforced his belief that Bells could not change the behaviour that troubled him.

“She has reinforced my lack of trust in her to work on things like this,” he said.

The latest development comes after weeks of intense romantic drama between Yusuf and Bells, whose relationship has become one of the most discussed storylines of the season.

The pair initially grew close, with Yusuf admitting that he liked Bells and was attracted to her. Big Brother’s official updates have documented their evolving relationship, including periods of separation, reconciliation and renewed intimacy.

Their romance has also generated considerable discussion among viewers, particularly after Yusuf publicly confirmed during a Live Show that the pair had been intimate. The revelation surprised Bells and sparked fresh debate about the true nature of their relationship.

The two have nevertheless continued to oscillate between affection and conflict. Their relationship has been described as one of the season’s most talked-about romances, with the pair repeatedly moving between closeness, disagreements and reconciliation.

For Yusuf, however, Tuesday’s diary session appeared to mark another attempt to establish a firm boundary.

He told Big Brother that he appreciates Bells and enjoys having her around, describing her as an “amazing person” apart from the particular issue that has repeatedly caused friction between them.

But he insisted that he would rather remain her friend than continue a romantic relationship that, in his view, leaves him vulnerable to public embarrassment.

For a relationship that has survived separation, reconciliation, intense intimacy and repeated disagreements, Yusuf’s latest declaration may yet prove to be another chapter in the complicated YuBells story — or the moment he finally chooses to walk away.
