Political commentator Isaac Fayose has disclosed the source of his family's wealth, stating that his elder brother, Ayo Fayose, a former Governor of Ekiti State, became wealthy through the support of their mother.
Fayose, who has been at odds with his brother, made this revelation during a no-holds-barred interview on the Mic On Podcast with Seun Okinbaloye. He explained that the former governor amassed his fortune after inheriting their mother’s business.
According to him, public speculation that Ayo Fayose is responsible for his wealth is baseless. He added that another brother, Bundok, was financially more prosperous than Ayo until the latter ventured into politics.
"My mother used to be the highest importer of Nissan Datsun in the 80s. She took Ayo to Rotterdam and said, 'Ayo, you are my first son, let me empower you.' She empowered Ayo Dele Peter Fayose, taking him to London, then to Rotterdam, to Amingo Shipping Agency, saying, 'This guy is going to be representing me now—my first son.' From there, he established Spotless Motors, Spotless Lotion, and Spotless Travels, and that was how Ayo rose."
"The one after Ayo, Bundok, was richer than Ayo. I don’t know—maybe after being governor for eight years, Ayo is now richer than him. But before Ayo became governor, Bundok was far wealthier than him."
"In terms of assets and cash, I am worth ₦10 billion here. And to me, Ayo doesn’t have ₦100 million.
