Authorities confirm death of third victim in Lagos helicopter crash

The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), Mr Tunji Oketunmbi on Friday, August 28, 2020 confirmed the death of a third person from the helicopter crash in Lagos.

“I am already telling you that. I confirm to you that the third person has died,” he stated.

The Lagos State Emergency Agency had earlier confirmed that two persons died in the accident.

With this, all three crew members in the helicopter are dead.

An earlier statement from the chopper did not give the names of the victims.

Part of the statement read, “We have been made to understand that nobody in the building, nor in the vicinity was injured for which we are grateful.

“In accordance with aviation regulations, the AIB has taken over the investigation process. We hereby ask members of the public to await the outcome of the investigation.

“We hereby express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the crew who lost their loved ones in this tragic accident.”

The helicopter, a Bell 206, with registration number 5N BQW belonged to Quorum Aviation.

It was travelling in from Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital with two crew members and a passenger before it crashed in the Opebi area of Lagos.
