Atone for looting $16bn electricity money, APC tells Atiku

The spokesperson for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has advised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to atone and make restitution after confessing to mismanaging a $16bn fund allocated to solve Nigeria's electricity problem.

This was as he shared a video showing Atiku confessing that he and former President Olusegun Obasanjo's administration achieved nothing in electricity, despite allocating $16 billion to revive the sector.

Atiku said, "I believe, if we had handled the issue of electricity when we were in office, by 2005, we would have provided enough electricity for the people of this country. But unfortunately, we did not follow that road.

"We collected money from local governments, states. federal government and others, Contracts were given, some contracts a hundred per cent, we left, nothing was achieved."

Reacting, Morka urged the former VP to atone for his sins instead of criticising the President Bola Tinubu administration that is trying to revive the sector he failed in.

He shared on X, "LOOTED ELECTRICITY FUND …@atiku of ADC should be atoning and making restitution for his self-confessed reckless pillaging of over $16 Billion meant to provide electricity … it is the least Nigerians expect and deserve … not pointing putrid fingers at those fixing a problem he created."
