Atiku’s presidential bid suffers major setback as Wike exposes top secret

Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike has accused the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, of secretly meeting some governors of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in an attempt to woo them to support him.

Wike made this known during the ground breaking ceremony of the Eneka -Igbo Etche Road dualisation project.

The Rivers Governor dared the PDP’s top leaders planning to expel him from the party to try going ahead with their plot if they can.

“When the time comes, we will know who has capacity and who does not have capacity,” Governor Wike said.

Wike who is the leader of the G-5 Governors reiterated their demands urging Senator Iyorchia Ayu to vacate his position as national Chairman of the PDP.

The G-5 governors claim that a southerner should take up the chairmanship position to create equity, fairness and inclusivity in the party.

They noted that both the national chairman and the presidential candidate cannot hail from the same region hence the party crisis.

Governor Wike also disclosed how an incident occurred between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his then-Vice President Atiku Abubakar within the period of 2002 and 2003.

According to Wike, Obasanjo went down on his knees appealing for Atiku to support his second-term bid while Atiku issued him a condition.

“You say we are giving condition, but you forgot history. In 2002- 2003 when president Olusegun Obasanjo wanted to run for second tenure, he knelt down before his vice president and said my vice please allow me to run.

“You know one of the conditions he gave him, Tony Anenih must be sacked as the Minister of Works and Tony Anenih must not be in the presidential campaign council. Obasanjo obliged and sacked Tony Anenih as Minister of Works and removed him from presidential campaign council,” Governor Wike said.
