Demola Olarewaju, an aide to former vice president Atiku Abubakar, has questioned the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for expressing concern over what it describes as media blackmail directed at Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.
The Chairman of CAN in the 19 northern states, Reverend John Joseph Hayab, had cautioned the media against the spread of unverified information.
“Just because Seyi is Tinubu’s son, he should not become a subject or object of media blackmail and propaganda to destroy him. There will be life after his father’s administration is over,” Hayab stated.
This was as he pointed out that spreading false information is contrary to cultural and religious values.
“Spreading lies against anyone is not acceptable in our culture and religion,” he said.
He urged the media to ensure they investigate and verify information about individuals before going to print with such information.
“People who have found this pattern suitable to destroy others should please stop it because no nation can grow by people destroying one another,” Hayab warned.
Reacting, Atiku's aide shared on X, saying, "What’s the business of CAN with Seyi and how is it our business?"
