Atiku Abubakar Foundation (AAF) has awarded a fully-funded scholarship to three young Nigerian girls - Nafisa Abdullahi, Rukaiya Mohammed Fema, and Khadija Kashim Kalli.
The awardees are all global winners at the recent TeenEagle Global finals.
Legit.ng recalls that seventeen-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu from Yobe State, Nigeria, emerged as the global champion at the 2025 TeenEagle English Finals in London against competitors from 69 countries. She claimed the top prize through her outstanding English proficiency.
The scholarship will cover the girls' education from now until they graduate from university.
This is contained in a statement made available to Legit.ng on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
According to the statement, the scholarship will fund the remainder of the girls' secondary education and entire university journey at any institution of their choosing.
The foundation said the girls showed that with dedication and support, dreams can become a reality regardless of background or social class.
“For these girls, their achievement at the TeenEagle competition was a testament to their hard work. Now, the scholarship from the AAF is a powerful affirmation of their potential.”
The AAF, the philanthropic arm of former Vice President, said the gesture aligns with the foundation’s commitment to supporting quality education, especially for girls and other vulnerable groups.
The AAF said it recognises that empowering young women is a powerful investment in the future of the nation.
"When you invest in the education of a girl child, you are invariably investing in the education of a prospective family and community," Atiku is quoted to have said in response to his commitment to the girl child education.
