The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is known for decamping from one party to another, citing the excuse that 'Nigerians are hungry'.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, Wike revealed how Atiku left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the defunct Action Congress when he wanted to contest for President.

The former Rivers State governor also recounted how Atiku returned to the PDP, then left the party again to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The same Atiku, however, dumped the APC to return to the PDP for the third time before leaving the party again to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to Wike, the chorus on Atiku's mouth all the while he was changing political parties was 'Nigerians are hungry'.

He said, "Each time Atiku wants to defect from one party to another, he would say, 'Nigerians are hungry. He was Vice President for 8 years under PDP and he decamped to AC, saying Nigerians are hungry. He decamped back to PDP, 'Nigerians are hungry', he decamped to APC 'Nigerians are hungry', he decamped back to PDP 'Nigerians are hungry', he left the PDP again and decamped to ADC because 'Nigerians are hungry'.....imagine such a character."
