The former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has donated N100 million to support the victims of the flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State.
This was made know on Sunday, September 15, 2024, by Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe in a press statement.
Atiku having paid a visit to the Borno State government, expressed his sympathies to those affected by the disaster.
Paul Ibe wrote, “The Waziri’s generous gesture is a testament to his unwavering dedication to humanitarian efforts.”
The Maiduguri flood, which has displaced an estimated 500,000 individuals and wrought widespread destruction, represents an acute humanitarian emergency.”
Atiku also appealed to his friends and associates to assist in providing relief to the affected residents.
Upon his arrival at Maiduguri airport, Atiku, accompanied by family and close associates, was received warmly by Tahir Monguno (SAN), the senator representing Borno North and Kaka Lawan (SAN), the Borno Central senator.
The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate made the announcement of his donation to the relief fund during his courtesy call to Governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House.
In response, Governor Zulum, expressed gratitude to Atiku for his compassionate visit, noting that “The people of Borno deeply appreciate this show of solidarity.”
