Atiku disrespected king of Annangland with a handshake - Nigerians react

A picture which showed Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar stretching out his hands to shake the king of Akwa Ibom has caused a stir on social media.

According to some internet users, it is a disrespect to handshake a king. However, many wonder why Atiku would act ignorant to such a popular tradition.

Atiku Abubakar paid a courtesy visit to the King of Annangland, HRM Obong Cosmas Okon Akpan ahead of his rally in Uyo. He was present at the palace with the Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Obong Cosmas Okon Akpan.

In the photo, the king was seen clinching his fist close to his chest whiles Atiku stretched out his hand in other to shake him.

Many social media users queried Atiku for his actions and wonder if he could greet emir in the north same way he did to the Paramount ruler.

A Twitter user with the user name @Honyfactory wrote; "Atiku went and disrespected the king of Akwa Ibom ..for that they have sworn he will never win ...wahala too much ! How can you stretch out you hand to shake him ? Is that how you greet emirs in the north?"

Another social media user wrote;
