The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, finally had a closed-door meeting with Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Thursday, August 4, in Abuja.

The meeting comes after several calling for the two to reconcile their differences since the PDP's Primaries where the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, was picked as Atiku’s running mate.

It was reported that the meeting took place at the Abuja residence of a member of the PDP Board of Trustees, Prof. Jerry Gana.

In June, Nyesom Wike was bypassed for the running mate position which divided the party as the group supporting Wike called for the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu over his role in the issue.

A source told Punch that;

“Atiku and Wike met on Thursday afternoon at the residence of Jerry Gana. It was a good meeting from what I gathered.

“The duo exchanged pleasantries and resolved to move the reconciliation to the next stage."
