Arise Television co-anchor, Reuben Abati has chastised counsels for the Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party following their defeat at the Supreme Court judgement.

On Thursday, October 26, the apex court affirmed President Bola Tinubu as the winner of the general election held in February 2023.

Sharing his thoughts during the Morning Show, Dr Abati said the lawyers of Atiku and Peter Obi misled and disappointed their clients.

Abati said;

"What is call to question is the professionalism of the counsel to the appellants and I say this with due respect because these are senior people in the inner bar, so, couldn’t they have seen all of these? Why would they wailfully mislead their clients.

In terms of expertise, with due respect, these people they disappointed their clients because what the lordship just did was to throw the textbooks at them.

All these things are inside the textbooks of this subject and they back their reasons with case law but the more important thing is for Nigerians is to see that this matter is now settled.”

The apex court, in its ruling, dismissed the appeals by Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart, Obi.

A seven-judge panel dismissed the opposition’s appeals over claims of fraud, electoral law violations, and Tinubu’s ineligibility to run for president.
