The 82 Division of the Nigerian Army has dispatched officers to the southeastern region to protect lives, properties, and vital infrastructure in response to a recent viral call for a sit-at-home directed by criminal groups.
The army has dismissed online threats predicting a lockdown on Thursday, November 20, 2025.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 82 Division, the threatening message is intended to evoke fear, disrupt daily activities, and destabilise the region. It also seeks to weaken the authority of the government and undermine the progress made by security forces in stamping out illegal sit-at-home orders by outlawed groups.
