The appellate court has announced that it will deliver its judgement in the Kaduna gubernatorial election trial on Friday, November 24.

This development was confirmed in a judgement notice released by the registrar of the appellate court, Kaduna division. The case is between Governor Uba Sani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Isah Ashiru of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Tribunal judgment

Recall that the Kaduna state governorship election petition tribunal had cancelled Governor Uba Sani's election victory. In Thursday's September 28 verdict, the court declared the governorship election in Kaduna state inconclusive.

Following the judgement, INEC has been directed to conduct a fresh governorship election within 90 days. However, Governor Uba Sani maintained he had not been sacked, and the tribunal upheld his election victory.

He noted that the court's decision upheld democratic principles, expressing a desire to collaborate with those on the opposing side.

The APC governor and the chosen successor of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai called on his main competitor, Ashiru, and other disgruntled figures in the state to unite with him in the collective effort to elevate the state to greater heights.

Kaduna PDP lawmaker gets victory in appeal court

Meanwhile, PDP's Daniel Amos has retained his seat for the Jema'a/Sanga Federal Constituency in Kaduna State. The appellate court in Abuja dismissed the appeal of Usman Anto of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In its ruling, the appellate court stated that the petition brought forth by the APC candidate lacked merit.
