Anthony Joshua calls for visible scorecards in boxing

Two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has called for live scorecards in boxing.

The British-born Nigerian boxer believes that the introduction of visible scorecards in boxing fights will enhance the competitive nature of the sport.

In the sense that, boxers will have an idea of the number of punches they have landed compared to that of their opponent and may decide to aim for a knockout at some point in the bout.

Unlike other sports, boxing scorecards are kept with the judges who declare the winner at the end of twelve rounds of fighting in the absence of a knockout victory.

The 32-year-old shared this idea via his Instagram page, “In so many sports you know who’s winning as the game is progressing, he said.

“In a sense, it creates a very competitive environment.”

“Should boxing introduce live (visible) scorecards so you know, what you need to know, in order to win,” he asked his fans.

Joshua failed in his bid to reclaim his lost belts as he lost his rematch fight against Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk last month via split decision.
