Nigerians doing business in the popular Amu market located in the Mushin area of Lagos state have mourned their losses on microblogging platform, Twitter.

MyNigeria reported that the fire broke out very early on Saturday around 2:10 am, leaving properties worth millions of Naira damaged.

Affected individuals known to have stalls in the market took to social media to mourn the loss of their livelihood.

Atanda said, "Our assets... where almost all my family members get their income from. It’s disheartening to see their goods go down in flames with help coming 4hrs after. The bravest&strongest man (Dad) I know cried today and it breaks my heart to see it. WE can do better."

Emmacho said, "My parents place just got burnt down, they didn’t take a dime off the house, please do remember my mom and dad in your prayers."

Adufe completely broke down in tears.

"God !!! Why us? This is where almost all my family make their livings. My dad 3 stores ,my grandma’s shops, my 2 aunts shops and stores, all my grand aunts shops just got burnt down in 1 night. This is too much for us. #amufire #mushin."
