Amazon has increased the salary of its warehouse workers by $2 per hour to better manage the increased demand from online shopping as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

The US Multi-national company, due to the coronavirus effect, has also hinted at the possibility of an additional 100,000 employees to its workers to ease the workload accompanied by the rise in demand.

COVID-19 has hit a global record of more than 200,000 cases with at least 8,000 deaths all over the world, according to Worldometer.

America, as of March 18, has a national record of at least 7,301 coronavirus cases and at least 116 deaths.

The $2 per hour salary increment is expected to run throughout the month of April when the outbreak is expected to fall.

The beneficiaries will be workers in the U.K and other European Union countries. They will also have their salaries increased by £2 and €2 per hour respectively.

According to The VaultzMag, Amazon pays delivery service and warehouse workers $15 per hour or more in some areas in the U.S.

The company has urged people whose job was affected by the outbreak of the virus to tender in their application.

"We want those people to know we welcome them on our teams until things return to normal and their past employer is able to bring them back," the company said.
