Mr. Mukaila Subukola has given details on the health condition of his daughter, Mariam, who was hit by a stray bullet during a clash between the police and Okada and Keke Marwa riders at Iyana Ipaja.
Mariam was hit by a stray bullet when chaos broke out during the protest against a ban placed against Okada and Keke Marwa riders by the Lagos State Government.
According to Mr Subukola who spoke to The Punch, the bullet went in through Mariam’s buttock and ended up in her stomach.
He said his daughter and a teacher had gone out together when there was no crisis in the neighbourhood. However, on their way back, they encountered a riot scene.
He said, “The crisis was a result of the ban on the operations of Okada and (Keke) Marwa riders. The crisis was between Iyana Ipaja and Aboru and police started shooting. That was how a stray bullet hit her. Her intestines came out. The stray bullet went through her buttock and ended up in her stomach.”
He revealed that he rejected the sum of N20,000 from the police from Ile-Epo Oke Odo, despite the fact that he had emptied his account to care for his daughter.
Calling on Nigerians to help him with his daughter’s medical bill, he said, “All I’m concerned about is the wellbeing of my daughter. I have been asked if there is no one who can help us. It (Mariam’s medical bill) is not something that I can handle by myself.”
